Art defines me.

I was involved in music and art from a very early age and was employed in the printing industry during the period when I was raising my children. Therefore it seemed only natural to get my Masters in printmaking in 1987. My degrees, besides giving me much broader knowledge in the art field, increased my self-confidence and validated my art works from a professional standpoint.

Being co-founder of IMPACT: A Woman's Gallery in Buffalo, NY was truly a learning experience. It was a co-op so all the members cooperated to put together monthly exhibits, many of which were national and international competitions. I was instrumental in the formation of the non-toxic portion of the printmaking studio of Buffalo Societies of Artists and served on their board during part of its formative period.

In 2000 I moved to Overland Park, Kansas to be near my daughter and her family. My studio is in my home and I can also use the large presses in the printmaking studios at UMKC as I am a member of Hand Print Press. I am also a member of the Kansas City Artists Coalition, The International Society of Experimental Artists and The Society of Layerists in Multi-media.

I create my semi-abstract works using acrylics, watercolors and AKUAinks, painting and spraying colors over and around real leaves. It is exciting to use interference colors which give a glow of changing colors when viewing the painting from different angles. I sometimes add real leaves. These leaves have become very beautiful from having been sprayed during the process of making the painting. This is how I have created
the Fantasy Flora Series.
